When They Are Not There: App-Controlled Toys & Casting Kits

Two very different products solve the same problem: wanting something of the other person when they are not in the room. One does it live, over the internet. The other does it by making a physical copy. This guide covers both, because the question underneath them is the same one.

App-controlled: live, over any distance

App-controlled toys pair over Bluetooth to a phone, and the phone connects to the internet. Your partner opens the same app anywhere in the world and controls the toy in real time. There is no meaningful lag, and distance genuinely does not matter — a different room and a different continent work identically.

The category is dominated by one manufacturer, and the range is deep enough that the model number matters.

Which model to get

The Lush 4.0 is the current model, and it is the one to buy. It scores 100 — body-safe silicone from a manufacturer with a long, consistent record.

It is worth saying that it did not always. Until August 2026 the 4.0 scored 78 while the three-generations-older Lush 2.0 scored 98, purely because our score included a demand pillar built from accumulated sales — and the 2.0 had six years and 15,000 sales behind it while the 4.0 had launched in December 2024. Our wholesale demand data had also stopped updating entirely, so that gap was never going to close on its own.

We changed the score rather than leave it recommending obsolete stock: where demand cannot be measured, that pillar is dropped instead of guessed at. The result is that 127 products launched in the last eighteen months now score 90 or above, where before exactly one did.

The rest of the Lush line now reads consistently: the 2.0 scores 98 and the 3.0 scores 97. All three are body-safe silicone. The 3.0 sat at 77 until August 2026 purely because our supplier feed carried no material data for that one listing — a gap in the paperwork, never a difference in the product. Elsewhere in the range, the Nora rotating rabbit scores 94 and the Max 2 scores 92.

Any of them will do the job. Buy the 4.0 for the current hardware, or an earlier model to save money — they all connect to the same app.

What to actually check

Both people need the app. One controls, one wears. Set it up together before you are apart, not during.
Bluetooth range is short; internet range is not. The wearer’s phone must be near the toy. The controller can be anywhere.
Battery life is the real constraint. These are not all-evening devices at full power. Charge before, not during.
Privacy. Use a passcode on the app. It is an ordinary phone app and shows up like one, but it does hold a connection history.

Casting kits: a physical copy

Casting kits do the opposite. Rather than a live connection, they produce an object — a silicone copy of a partner’s anatomy, made at home. Clone-A-Willy is the single highest-volume kit we sell, at nearly 19,000 units. Clone-A-Pussy works on the same principle.

It is a genuinely popular thing to buy and a genuinely fiddly thing to do, and that combination is why it deserves explaining rather than just listing.

How the process actually goes

Mix the moulding powder. Water temperature is the whole game — too warm and it sets before you are ready, too cool and it never sets properly. Use a thermometer rather than guessing.
Take the impression. This is time-critical and needs an erection maintained for the full moulding window. Most failed casts fail here, and the honest advice is to expect the first attempt to be practice.
Pour the silicone. Slowly, from one side, letting it displace air rather than trapping it. Air bubbles are the second most common failure.
Wait. Curing takes hours. Rushing it produces a soft, tacky result that never fully firms up.

Two practical notes

Refills exist, and score better than the kits. The Clone-A-Willy Silicone Refill scores 84, against 69 for the vibrating kit and 54 for some colourways. If your first attempt fails, you do not need to rebuy the whole kit — and given how common a failed first cast is, buying a refill alongside the kit is sensible rather than pessimistic.

Shave first. Thoroughly. The moulding compound grips hair, and removal is genuinely painful. This is the step people skip and regret.

Which one suits which situation

Regularly apart — different cities, travel, deployment: app-controlled. It is interactive and it is live, which is the thing that actually helps.
A single long separation, or a keepsake: a casting kit. Nothing to charge, nothing to connect, and it does not depend on both people being free at the same moment.
Different time zones: honestly, a cast. Live control requires both of you awake, and that is the constraint people underestimate.
