Sex Machines: What You Actually Get

Sex machines are the most expensive thing most people will ever buy from a shop like ours, and the hardest to research honestly — because almost every guide online is published by a manufacturer describing its own machine. This one is built from the specifications our suppliers actually provide, with the gaps marked as gaps.

They are not one product

“Sex machine” covers four quite different things, and picking the wrong category matters more than picking the wrong brand.

  • Stand machines — a motor on an adjustable frame that sits on the floor. The most powerful and the most adjustable; also the largest. The Dicktator’s stand is 34.25 inches tall on a 13.75-inch base, which is genuinely furniture-sized.
  • Portable / handheld — the same thrusting mechanism in something you hold or set on a bed. The LoveBotz Rob FUK is 20 × 7.5 × 7.25 inches; the Thrust Bot is smaller still. Far easier to store, less powerful, no hands-free operation unless braced.
  • Saddles and stools — you sit on them. The Cowgirl Saddle runs three motors’ worth of functions (5 thrusting, 5 vibration, 5 clitoral tapping speeds); the Bangin Stool is a 14.5 × 19 × 18-inch frame. Excellent for solo use and for anyone whose knees or back rule out kneeling.
  • Docking systems — the Fetish Fantasy Body Dock uses a docking plate rather than a frame, trading adjustability for a smaller footprint.

Noise is the specification nobody publishes

For a machine that lives in a home with walls and neighbours, noise decides whether you use it. Broadly, under 50 dB is comfortable in a shared home and under 45 dB is quiet enough not to carry; a loud machine is closer to a kitchen appliance.

Of the thirteen machines we stock above $150, exactly one publishes a decibel figure. The Lovense Mini Sex Machine states 60 dB — which is honest of them, and also loud. Everything else on the market, ours included, simply doesn’t say.

We’re not going to invent numbers to fill that column. What we can tell you is what correlates: machines with brushless motors and enclosed housings run quieter than exposed-gear designs, metal frames transmit less rattle than plastic ones when properly assembled, and any machine gets louder as it ages and its fixings loosen. If quiet matters more than power to you, the handheld and saddle formats are generally the safer bet than a stand machine at full stroke.

Attachments: check the standard before the machine

The attachment system determines what you can ever use with it, and it is not interchangeable between brands.

Vac-U-Lock is the one with a real ecosystem behind it — Doc Johnson’s standard, with a large range of compatible attachments, harnesses and handles built around the same fitting. If you expect to change attachments over time, buying into that standard is worth more than a slightly better motor on a proprietary fitting.

Some machines ship with attachments included, which changes the real price. The Fetish Fantasy Bigger Bang includes a King Cock 6″ and 8″, a wireless remote and a travel bag; the LoveBotz Thrust Bot includes a 7-inch attachment. Others are machine-only.

Thrust, speed and power

Stroke length is the number that changes the experience most, and it varies enormously — the Evolved G Force manages “over 3 inches”, where full-size stand machines run considerably longer. Speed ranges matter less than the ability to adjust smoothly at the low end, which is where most people actually use them.

Mains power gives consistent force; battery gives portability and loses strength as it drains. Every stand machine here is mains-powered, and that’s the right trade for the format.

Before you buy

  • Measure where it will live and where it will be stored. A stand machine is furniture. If it has to be hidden between uses, a portable or a stool is a better purchase than a better machine you never set up.
  • Decide on the attachment standard first. It constrains everything you buy afterwards.
  • Assume it’s louder than you’d like. Plan for a floor rather than a shared wall, and see our play space guide on noise.
  • Check the attachment material, not just the machine’s. Our body-safe materials guide covers what’s non-porous and what needs a condom.

What we can’t tell you

We haven’t tested these machines. We can tell you what they’re made of, what size they are, what’s in the box and what the manufacturer claims, because those are documented. We can’t tell you how loud a specific machine is in your room, how it holds up after two years, or how it feels — and we’d rather say so than write a review we haven’t earned.

If you’ve bought one from us, tell us how it went. That’s the information this page is actually missing, and no amount of specification-reading replaces it.
